For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding.I know the Blaupunkt Lucca MP3 retailed at 399.99 last Xmas and the Nuvi retails now at about 250, but I have the opportunity to get either for 149.99 through work.Im such a technophobe when it comes to Sat Navs, so Im unsure on which one to go for Any advice people Also I know the Blaupunkt one has a speed gage on it, so it displays your speed.Someone was warning me against that saying that its possible for others to tell when you are speeding This must be a myth surely as it would be a breach of privacy laws and it would have been on the news by now that this happens Any advice gratefully received as I really need a Sat Nav asap.
Just need to know which one is the better one, proscons etc Ive tried looking on the net and can get some inforeviews on the Garmin, but nothing on the Blaupunkt. Its also great as a travel companion, music, photos and travel guides are great, you can store loads of mp3s on SD card and play them via your car stereo and the music is automatically paused to allow you to hear the voice prompts. The screen is also very good, although the nuvi 300 doesnt have text to speech for street names Ive never found that a problem as the map is so clear that you can see the direction you need to go at a glance. The only thing the nuvi 300 could do with is bluetooth mobile phone connectivity as some of the other nuvi models have. Blaupunkt Travelpilot Lucca Software Software On MyHaving said all that Im actually thinking of selling mine, but only when Ive tested the TomTom Navigator 6 software on my M3100 pocketPC phone, if its not upto the job then Ill keep my nuvi Im still waiting for my bluetooth GPS receiver to arrive, but from what I can tell the TT6 navigator software doesnt include phone numbers for POIs such as hotels and restaurants like the nuvi does, ironic really seeing as I could actually phone them using my M3100. Screen is very good - it does have a night mode, which helps. It comes pre-loaded with UKIreland Maps (includes POIs it is an early 2006 edition - ie tried to check new Arsenal Stadium - still gave me instructions for Highbury) and major roads from Europe - In my opinion The graphs and the colours used on the Maps are much better than Tom Toms. ![]() Lucca doesnt have an USB connection (and no Bluetooth), you will have to copy them to a SD and then load the map onto the Sat Nav from there. Blaupunkt Travelpilot Lucca Software Manual Is NotNot sure if this process wipes out the preloaded UK maps - manual is not very clear regarding this. You can also listen to MP3 and see Pics in this unit, but I havent tried it yet Need to use it for a while to have a more precise opinion, but 1st impressions are quite good. Cheers Update: Loading a map onto the Lucca wont wipe out the pre loaded UK maps, unless you want to. Did it once before and for me it was a nightmare, especially trying to find my way back home and Ive promised myself not to do it again, ever, because of my (bad) sense of direction. I must say I am really impressed with the Lucca as all the instructions were given clearly and well in advanced. Ive missed one turn and the sat nav re calculate my route in 5 seconds, if that much Used quite a lot of inside roads to get to the places I wanted, avoiding all the traffic (quite busy at this time of the year) The whole experience of driving from Stanmore to Central London and return was in the end quite easy and enjoyable. The Lucca is one of the best investments Ive ever made, without a doubt. My advice to everyone in doubt of buying a sat nav is GET ONE. No matter what brand, it really is useful, specially to people like me.
